Educating children about the dangers of opioids at a

young age is critical. Research shows that teenagers and

young adults often underestimate risk, so they might not

understand how easy it is to become addicted. From 2005

to 2020, the use of opioids by teens and young adults has

increased rapidly. One in five report misusing opioids.

Because their brains are still developing, they can be prone

to risky behavior and misuse of opioids.

Drug addiction causes changes in the brain. This image shows
